PHNOM PENH: The Minister of Labor and Vocational Training, Ith Samheng, met with the Czech Ambassador to Cambodia, Martin Vávra, on Tuesday, 22 March, to discuss further cooperation on Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in Cambodia.

TVET refers to all forms of education and training that provides individuals with the knowledge and skills required for employment. TVET includes both formal and informal learning, which can be both school-based or work-based.

The TVET cooperation discussed between Cambodia and the Czech Republic focuses on capacity building for students, as well as the promotion of fields in line with the latest technology developments, through the provision of new equipment.

During the meeting between the Minister of Labor and Vocational Training and the Czech Ambassador to Cambodia, Minister Ith Samheng expressed his appreciation to the Czech government for all its contributions to Cambodia’s vocational training development, which includes supporting the ministry with the required training materials, providing capacity building for teachers and officials and helping with the compilation of study documents. Additionally, the Minister also highlighted the Czech Republic’s involvement in helping improve the Kampong Chnnang Vocational Training Center, as well as the National Institute of Battambang.

Regarding continued and future cooperation in this field, Minister Ith Samheng proposed conducting exposure visits between teachers in Cambodia and the Czech Republic, to allow them to meet and share their experiences and knowledge on human resource training.
